Nestled in the Orange River, the largest river in South Africa. Situated in the desolate and rugged milieu in a canyon carved out in time. The ancient Khoi-khoi called it “Aukoerebis” or the place of great noise. The powerful flow of water is unleashed from rocky surrounding characterised by the 18km abyss of the gorge. Now incorporated into the Augrabies Falls National Park, it is protected along with the fauna & flora in the region. The falls are about 120km west of Upington in the Northern Cape. It was officially established in 1966 and covers an area of 820 km². We travel to the falls for a shot break-away from the big city life now that the Orange River is in flood this time of year. Join us in our venture to this great place and let the great noice drown out everything els and surround you in silence.
